Fabulous Febuary

Apart from the rain that hit early on in Feb there is much to celebrate here @ Kina, its not so manic and that means you get a little more time to stay if you so choose.

I say why wouldn’t you with all that Waiheke has to offer this month lets start off with the Sculpture on the gulf around Church Bay not only are the few outstanding from the properties where the sculptures stand but the work this year is off the dial. We were privileged enough to have some of the sculptures stay @ Kina Backpackers and hear some of the back stories on all the effort going into making the works of art and what they have given up to be here or practise as a sculpture artist. Check out Headland sculpture on the gulf and pop down to Fullers Ferries to get a deal over here or if you wish to have your own car go see the team @ sealink.

Talking about Fullers they have added a new venture and great concept as many people want to be able to see the island, but our traditional bus trip offers don’t cater to seeing the full vista our beautiful home has to offer and at seriously great prices I don’t see why you wouldn’t pop on hop off these Island Hoper buses.

Whilst its over the other big up is our good friends Dan & Bodie from Beachbumbus hosted Nitro Circus check out the Youtube video of their visit Nitro Cirus visit Waiheke, and Kora who does a mean Argentinean BBQ was ensuring these boy had a real feed. But you know what I love most it doesn’t matter who you are, what you do anyone and I mean anyone can enjoy what the Nitro boys experienced whilst here on Waiheke the Beachbum Bus.

If you are wanting to see Waiheke coast but don’t feel like walking it there are some FREE hosted walks BTW you can catch up with Jamie & Lisa on http://wildgoosesailingexpeditions.com/contact-details.html no matter what your budget or where you want to travel they have something to cater for you.

So whats been happening here @ Kina since we last made a post.. Luke well he’s perfecting his cooking in the smoker and the other night smoked 2 whole chickens for the backpackers who then combined their own food to make banquet and share stories around the table outside. Followed by a few drinks and some more and a bit of swing ball challenge not sure who was the reining champ I don’t think they knew either but still sounded like everyone had fun.

Not surprisingly the kids are all growing quickly and are being terribly spoilt by all the long timers.. Hunter esp pleased to see Fede back after saying goodbye to Vicki,Yana,Mike,Alice & Stefan. Adam well he’s happy as long as someone is up for a bit of tag and rugby.

Opps I almost forgot to mention that the water down @ Onetangi Beach is soo..good to swim in and a regular activity for all the family @ Kina Backpackers. Its been so hot we’ve been known to go down 3 times in a day. Luke’s spear fishing eye is back and today we’re going to enjoy some of his marinated fish.. my firm favourite scallops and might I mention the only bonus of the recent storm that caused so much destruction.

Ok folks I’d better go.. the family awaits for no one and the noise level is getting a little too high..
